10 Ways to have a Productive Week

In today’s fast-paced marketplace, there is a greater demand of business and career people to be more productive. To be productive simply means to get the work done or to achieve a desired result in good time. Many mistake activities and busyness for productivity but they are not the same thing.

How can one become more productive? You may ask. Here are 10 simple productivity hacks to get you started:

(1) Focus on a single task

It’s been proven over and over that multitasking kills productivity. Finish one task before moving to another.

(2) Don’t be afraid to say “no”

Don’t be afraid to turn down requests that devour your time and are not aligned to your goals. You can’t help everybody. It’s that simple!

(3) Plan your week ahead

A productive week starts before ahead of time. Always plan your day before going to bed on the day before.

(4) Aim for Thursday

Target finishing 95% of your tasks for the week by Thursday. Friday can then be used to concentrate on unexpected tasks.

(5) Work on harder tasks first

Tackle tough tasks first to avoid mental drain later on. It will make other tasks appear much simpler.

(6) Have an accountability Partner

Be accountable to somebody. Share your calendar and to-do list while being open to constructive criticism.

(7) Learn from the best

Who are the very productive people you know in your space? Ask them for ideas on how to stay productive and adopt their best practices.

(8) Avoid the perfection paradox

Striving for excellence is a noble goal, but obsessive perfectionism is the ultimate enemy of productivity. Complete is better than best.

(9) Wake up early

Productive people are known to rise early. There are a good number of things you can get done before distraction starts setting in.

(10) Create time for recreation

Work hard and play hard, but don’t mix the two. When it’s time for work, work like a beast and when it’s playtime, play like a child. Never feel guilty about playing; your body and brain need it.
